OEROL 2007 HOME

OEROL FESTIVAL, HOLLAND (2007)

We created an extraordinary site-specific outdoor production for the OEROL Festival in June 2007. This Festival takes place on the small Dutch island of Terschelling for 10 days every June during which time the island population swells from 3,000 to 90,000!

Working in collaboration with the Dutch company De Waterlanders, the show was conceived as a journey through sound and flame on one of the island's huge and beautiful beaches. The journey started with a musical procession through the huge dunes revealing the epic beach below, continued through a series of animated scenes and installations, took in a scene acted out in the sea itself and concluded in the natural amphitheatre of the dunes facing the sea where the storytelling part of the show unfolded around two huge sea cargo containers filled with thousands of bottles.

The show was a spectacular and beautiful theatrical event. The sheer magic of watching live performance on a beach, at night, under the stars, made for a mesmerising and unforgettable experience.

BOILERHOUSE's Artistic Director Paul Pinson, together with Project Producer Chloe Dear worked closely with the De Waterlanders core team of Erik Woltmeijer, Remco de Kluizenaar, and Eric Langendoen together with Scottish and Dutch performers and technicians to realise this special show.
